Santa Rosa Police Chief John Cregan has been awarded the Allen W. Sill Founders Award, one of the highest honors from the California Police Chiefs Association.
Recognized at a symposium in San Diego, Cregan was celebrated for his “visionary leadership” and his work in expanding civilian mental health crisis teams across the state.
The award highlights Cregan’s success with the local inRESPONSE program, which has become a California model for handling mental health calls. He was also praised for his aggressive stance against “ghost guns” and his commitment to officer wellness and trauma-informed care.
Following the ceremony, Cregan was elected to the association’s executive board, where he will continue to shape law enforcement policy for the entire state.
