One of the world’s most famous restaurants is facing a legal battle in Napa County.
A former dishwasher has filed a lawsuit against Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry, alleging widespread violations of the California Labor Code.
According to the Press Democrat, the complaint, filed in Napa Superior Court, claims the Yountville landmark failed to pay minimum wage and overtime, and denied staff proper rest breaks.
Representing over 50 employees, the suit alleges the restaurant group forced staff to work off the clock and failed to provide accurate pay stubs between 2022 and 2025. While the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group is named as a defendant, Chef Keller himself is not personally named in the suit.
