The Sonoma County Fire District is set to become the largest fire agency in the region by absorbing the Rancho Adobe Fire District.
Preliminarily approved on March 4th, the move will bring Cotati and Penngrove under a single unified command.
The expansion covers 28,000 residents and, notably, will not result in any immediate tax changes for homeowners. Officials say the merger will streamline resources and broaden the district’s footprint to enhance emergency response.
This consolidation marks a major step in centralizing fire protection services across the North Bay.
