After nearly sixty years of serving up frosted mugs and memories, the St. Helena A&W is officially closing its doors tomorrow, March 31st.
According to the Press Democrat, the community landmark has been a staple since the 1960s, serving as the go-to spot for post-game root beer floats and the place where generations of local teens landed their very first jobs.
While the property has been sold to the local family behind La Azteca, longtime residents say the loss of the orange-and-brown shingle feels like losing a piece of the town’s soul.
The restaurant will host one final farewell tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving fans one last chance to grab a signature souvenir before the taps run dry for good.
