The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors might be circling back to a high-end real estate deal they walked away from just five months ago.
The Press Democrat reports the county is once again considering the purchase of 400 Aviation Boulevard, a premium office building near the airport, after the owners presented “new information” in a recent closed-door session.
The original plan to buy the building for $56 million stalled last fall over a $10 million markup and a conflict-of-interest complaint involving a campaign donation. While officials say negotiations were only “paused,” any new deal would likely require a lower price tag and better terms to win over a skeptical board.
Proponents argue that owning the space is better for taxpayers than paying $2 million in annual rent, especially as the county’s main Santa Rosa campus continues to crumble.
