A 63-year-old Petaluma man is in custody today following a hit-and-run that injured a child in a marked crosswalk Thursday afternoon.
The Press Democrat reports police say the ten-year-old boy was struck at the intersection of Washington and Howard Streets before the driver fled the scene.
Quick-thinking witnesses provided a license plate number, leading officers directly to the suspect’s residence where he allegedly admitted to the collision. Authorities noted the man showed clear signs of intoxication and booked him into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
Fortunately, the young victim suffered only minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Petaluma Police Department.
