Rohnert Park Rooftop Standoff Ends In Arrest

A Rohnert Park man is behind bars today following a harrowing weekend standoff where he allegedly brandished a shotgun from a rooftop.

The Press Democrat reports authorities say the suspect pointed the weapon at neighbors while shouting racial slurs and profanities, leading to a hate crime investigation.

While officers safely talked him down, they later had to execute search warrants to seize multiple illegal firearms and ammunition after he refused to surrender them. The Sonoma County bomb squad also swept the home Wednesday morning following threats of explosives, though no devices were found.

The suspect currently remains held without bail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and weapons violations.
