Tragedy Strikes Santa Rosa in Late-Night House Fire

A Santa Rosa neighborhood is mourning after a fast-moving house fire claimed the life of a woman and sent a man to the hospital Friday night.

Firefighters rushed to the 1600 block of Greeneich Avenue just after 10:00 p.m., finding heavy flames pouring from the back unit of a multi-building property. Crews managed to rescue a man from a porch area; he was treated for smoke inhalation, but tragically, a woman was later discovered deceased inside a bedroom.

While the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes, the damage was severe enough to keep investigators on-site for hours. Preliminary reports suggest the blaze was likely an electrical fire that started in the kitchen, though officials are still working to determine the exact cause.

Neighborhood residents are being reminded to check their smoke detectors as the community processes this heartbreaking loss.
