History is being made at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport today as Southwest Airlines officially launches its service to Santa Rosa.
According to the Press Democrat, the first flight arrives from Las Vegas this afternoon, piloted by Santa Rosa local Marc Hauptman. A ribbon-cutting celebration featuring Snoopy kicks off at 1:30 p.m. to welcome the airline’s inaugural nonstop routes to Burbank, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Denver.
Expansion will continue through the year, with seasonal service to Austin, Texas, set to begin this October.
