Authorities have identified the woman who died in a house fire Friday night in Santa Rosa as 84-year-old Lorraine Emery.
Firefighters discovered Emery inside a bedroom after responding to the blaze on Greeneich Avenue just after 10:00 p.m. The fire caused an estimated $400,000 in damage and left several residents displaced from the home.
While the official cause is still under investigation, officials believe the flames broke out in the kitchen and may have been electrical.
This tragic incident remains a sobering reminder of the importance of fire safety and working smoke alarms.
