Sonoma County Braces for Challenging Budget Workshops

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors kicks off four days of public budget workshops this Monday, April 20th, to shape the $2.7 billion spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

Board Chair Rebecca Hermosillo warns of “challenging years ahead,” citing significant financial pressure stemming from recent changes at the state and federal levels.

While the proposed budget marks a slight 1.2 percent increase, officials say tough tradeoffs are looming for essential community services. These sessions offer residents a chance to hear directly from every county department—from public health to law enforcement—before a final budget is adopted in June.

Public comment is welcomed at 9:00 a.m. each day, and the full schedule is available now on the county’s website.
