Fire Crews Quickly Extinguish Two-Acre Grass Fire In Fountaingrove

The Santa Rosa Fire Department quickly stopped a two-acre grass fire this afternoon in the Fountaingrove area. The blaze broke out around 1:30 p.m. on Kelsey Knolls Drive, sending smoke into the air that was visible across north Santa Rosa.

Because the fire occurred in a “Mutual Threat Zone,” a large team of responders from CAL FIRE and the Sonoma County Fire District assisted in the effort. Officials confirmed that no structures were threatened and no evacuations were necessary during the incident.

Firefighters noted that despite recent heavy rains, today’s warm and breezy weather allowed the dry grass to ignite easily. Residents are encouraged to use this as a reminder to stay “Wildfire Ready” as the season begins.
