After decades of leadership, Roger Rhoten is stepping back from his role as executive director of the landmark Sebastiani Theatre in Sonoma.
The Sonoma Index-Tribune reports the 81-year-old theater veteran announced he will transition into the role of capital campaign director, focusing on fundraising and long-term financial stability for the venue.
Tony Ginesi, the theater’s general manager since 2017, has officially taken over all daily operations. Ginesi plans to honor Rhoten’s legacy while expanding children’s programming and diversifying shows for the local Hispanic community.
Rhoten described the day-to-day work as “all-consuming” and expressed full confidence in Ginesi’s vision for the future. The leadership change, which began in February, was celebrated last week during the theater’s annual fundraising gala.
