After nearly a century in business, Midstate Construction has announced a major leadership transition as long-time president Roger Nelson moves to Chairman of the Board.
The North Bay Business Journal reports Nelson, who has led the firm since 1977, is passing the torch to his wife, Monica Soiland Nelson, who now serves as the company’s CEO.
Other key promotions include Wesley E. Barry II as COO and Ben Honsvick as Chief Estimator, reinforcing a team with decades of collective experience. The restructure follows the retirement of Vice President Patrick Draeger, a 45-year veteran who oversaw over $700 million in regional projects. These changes, which took effect May 5, aim to modernize operations while maintaining the firm’s deep roots in North Bay housing and public works.
This new generation of leadership will now oversee field operations and strategic growth for the 91-year-old general contractor.
