A routine traffic stop in Santa Rosa early Saturday morning ended with a driver behind bars on weapons charges.
Police say an officer pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation on Carrillo Street just after midnight and quickly spotted marijuana within reach of the driver.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded firearm hidden inside the center console. The driver, identified as Carlos Perdomo, was taken into custody without incident and booked into jail for carrying a concealed, loaded weapon in public.
The Santa Rosa Police Department reiterated that removing illegal firearms from the streets remains a top priority under Chief John Cregan.
