Jury deliberations are underway in the trial of Wayne Hsiung, who is accused of leading two protests at poultry farms near Petaluma in 2018 and 2019. The jury was handed the case after hearing closing arguments on Tuesday. Hsiung, an animal activist, is accused of trespassing and conspiracy. A prosecutor says the protests should be classified as “disruptions” or “media events.” Hsiung says he was trying to help struggling animals in 2018, but was not involved in the 2019 protest. He faces up to three years and eight months in prison if convicted as charged.
