A group of caregivers are rallying to save a birthing center in Petaluma. Tomorrow afternoon, caregivers will gather outside the Petaluma Health Care District office on North McDowell Boulevard – there are trying to prevent Providence from closing the birthing center at Petaluma Valley Hospital. Caregivers will then attend the district’s board meeting at 6 PM, to discuss the potential closure of the birthing center. Providence bought the Petaluma Valley Hospital from the public hospital district in 2021 on the agreement that they keep the birthing center open through 2025. However, Providence informed the district last month that they plan to close the center due to recruiting issues.
