One man has been arrested after assaulting another in Fort Bragg. Mendociono County Deputies says that 37-year-old David Appier and a 53-year-old man got into a fight at a residence on Dorffi Road in Fort Bragg Tuesday afternoon. Appier had beaten the man in the head and face with a blunt object. The man then used a small handgun and shot Appier in the leg to stop the attack. Both went to the ER separately where deputies interviewed them determining what had happened. After Appier received treatment for the gunshot wound, he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and battery with serious bodily injury.
