California’s Largest Electric Companies Looking to Change Billing

Changes could be coming to what Californians pay for their electric bills. The state’s three largest power companies want a fixed rate based on income. That includes Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas and Electric, and San Diego Gas and Electric. They all submitted a joint proposal to the Public Utilities Commission. Officials say the plan would reduce monthly payments for low-income customers. A decision is expected by next summer.
