A project to make a crosswalk in Santa Rosa safe is underway. Work at Hoen Avenue, near Sierra Creek Lane, started Thursday morning. Less than six months ago, a 14-year-old boy was hit by a car at that crosswalk and suffered serious, life-altering injuries. Four months ago, a 19-year-old woman was hit and seriously injured in the same place. The city is installing a rectangular flashing beacon to help drivers better see pedestrians.
