Unknown Group Buys Land Around Travis Air Force Base

Who bought a bunch of land around a North Bay military base? It remains a mystery. The Wall Street Journal reports that a group called Flannery Associates has spent almost $1-billion dollars acquiring land that surrounds Travis Air Force Base. They bought 52,000 acres, mostly south of the base, which is agricultural and marshy down to the Sacramento River in Rio Vista. However, the people behind Flannery Associates remain a mystery, even to the US government. The company is registered in Delaware and because of that, does not need to disclose its business partners. Reportedly, 97-percent of its investors are American and the rest are from the UK and Ireland.
