The elderly in Sonoma County and across the country are being targeted by very aggressive scammers who pretend to be Medi-Cal representatives. An 84-year-old woman in Forestville got a call yesterday from someone offering an upgrade to services. The fraudster pushed to get the woman to reveal her Medi-Cal number but luckily she didn’t give it away, and instead hung up and called the actual number on the back of her card. An official Medicare spokesperson said that fraudulent calls are on the rise and that you should NEVER give your personal information over the phone to someone who cold calls you.
