Brick-And-Mortar Stores Not Declining as Much in Sonoma County… But Still Declining

Brick-and-mortar stores continue to struggle across the country, including Sonoma County. Travel site Upgraded Points just released a new report looking at the U.S. locations where brick-and-mortar retail is declining the fastest. Between 2011 and 2021, the Santa Rosa-Petaluma metro area experienced 9-percent decline in the number of brick-and-mortar retail stores per capita. As a result, there are just 3.1 brick-and-mortar retail stores for every 1,000 Santa Rosa-Petaluma residents. However, we are doing better than the national decline average of over 12-percent.
