Three More Sonoma County Poultry Farms Hit with Bird Flu

A bird flu outbreak has been detected at three more poultry farms in Sonoma County. This week, producers will euthanize more than half-a-million-birds at those facilities. The number of sites with bird flu outbreaks since the week of Thanksgiving now stands at seven, while the number of birds put down is at more than one-million. Since the start of 2022, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza has led to about three-point-four-million birds dying in California. Sonoma County accounts for a third of that total. Two of the most recent local outbreaks, confirmed by the USDA on Monday, involve the Sunrise Farms brand.
