Atmospheric River Hits the North Bay Bringing Inches of Rain

Sonoma County is expected to see heavy rain from an atmospheric river, with the most rain likely coming today. The National Weather Service is calling for up to six inches of rain and 50-mile-per-hour wind gusts. Brayden Murdock, a meteorologist with the National Weather service, says flood risk will start in urban areas with poor drainage and small streams before the risk moves towards larger streams. A flood watch for the entire North Bay went into effect at four a.m. and will last through four a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service is warning of flooded roads, downed trees, and power outages. People living in rural areas and near creeks and streams are urged to take extra precautions.
