A woman who died trying to cross a Lake County Road during Sunday’s storm has been identified. CHP says that 58-year-old Marla Simone Shaffer of Clearlake was trying to get to the south side of Highway 20 near Pomo Way when she was hit by a car. It happened while it was raining and in a area where there wasn’t a crosswalk. First responders arrived and attempted to save her. Shaffer would be taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. CHP is still investigating the crash. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved.
