A 57-ton fishing vessel remains grounded at south Salmon Creek State Beach just north of Bodega Bay. On Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard made their third attempt to free the Aleutian Storm from the surf using large excavators. However, the attempt failed. The coast guard previously tried to use a tugboat to pull the Aleutian out but the line broke twice and got detached a third time. There is still a chance of refloating it but the tides will most likely keep pushing it further into the sand. The fishing boat became stranded Friday night as the crew attempted to get to Bodega Bay to refuel.
