Diesel Fuel Being Removed From Stranded Fishing Boat Near Bodega Bay

Crews are in the process of removing diesel fuel from the 57-ton, 58-foot fishing boat that ran aground near Bodega Bay. The San Francisco-based boat, called the Aleutian Storm, ran aground late Friday night. The boat reportedly hit a patch of rough weather while the crew was heading to Bodega Harbor to refuel. Three attempts to free it from South Salmon Creek State Beach on Sunday and Monday failed. The Coast Guard says the boat has taken on substantial amounts of water while stuck on the beach, which will make future efforts to tow it even tougher.
