A proposal to transform the Sonoma Developmental Center campus in Glen Ellen is facing backlash from some Sonoma County leaders. Eldridge Renewal, the corporation formed last April to guide the property’s redevelopment project, submitted its formal application to the county last Friday. Permit Sonoma, the county’s planning and permitting agency, has expressed concerns about the application, which features hundreds of pages of analysis, maps and charts. Permit Sonoma is planning to formally respond to Eldridge Renewal after a 30-day public comment period is up. There are concerns about the number of affordable housing units in the proposal. The plan calls for transforming the Sonoma Developmental Center campus into housing, retail space, office space, green spaces and a hotel.
