Another Storm Hitting the North Bay Beginning Thursday

Another storm is headed for the North Bay, and this one is expected to be the coldest one of the season so far. Forecasters are calling for light showers tomorrow, with heavier rain coming Friday. Up to two inches of rain is expected in Sonoma County’s coastal mountains, with one to one and a half inches of rain possible in the valleys. And, snow could fall on top of the Mayacamas Mountains for the first time this year. The snow level may dip as low as 25-hundred-feet, with higher elevation areas potentially seeing up to three inches of snow.

Anyone headed to Lake Tahoe is urged to get there before tomorrow night, or don’t go at all. A blizzard is on track to hit the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains for four days, dumping up to 12-feet of snow with winds blowing at 50-miles-an-hour. That means driving will not only be extremely dangerous, but maybe impossible. The storm could close highways through the weekend.
