Santa Rosa Man Being Charged in Fentanyl-Related Death in Novato

A Santa Rosa man is being charged for the fentanyl-related death of a woman in Novato. Callen Scheffler is accused of providing two women fentanyl last August and then dropping them off at Novato Community Hospital. One died but the other survived after being placed into a medically induced coma. Scheffler was found at a nearby parking lot by police and admitted to dropping the women off. He was arrested on an unrelated drug matter and an outstanding warrant. Scheffler is being charged with involuntary manslaughter and possessing drugs for sale. He was released after posting $75-thousand bail and will be arraigned in March.
