A 38-year-old Santa Rosa man has been arrested for an unregistered firearm and attempting to flee. On Saturday night, officers pulled over Jesus Pacheco near the intersection of Corby Avenue and Hearn Avenue. After smelling alcohol and seeing several open beer cans inside the vehicle, officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded, concealed .45 caliber firearm in the center console. As they were putting Pacheco in handcuffs, Pacheco turned and attempted to flee but was taken into custody a short distance later. Pacheco is a convicted felon, and is therefore prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. A passenger in the vehicle was cooperative and released at the scene.
