A man and woman who claim they were wrongfully arrested are suing the city of Santa Rosa. The federal lawsuit, filed on March 19th but reported Sunday, also lists but does not name ten Santa Rosa police officers, supervisors and investigators. The man and woman were arrested on February 3rd, 2023, during an investigation into an earlier deadly stabbing outside of a bar north of downtown. The man and woman say they were stopped by six officers after driving into the parking lot of a business. They were allegedly ordered to their knees and placed in handcuffs while officers pointed assault rifles at them. The lawsuit claims officers never told them why they were being detained. It also says the officers took their phones and wallets without warrants.
