Transient Identified as Dead Woman Found in Russian River Near Ukiah

The Mendocino County Coroner’s Office has identified a 37-year-old woman who’s decomposing body was found in the Russian River two miles south of Ukiah. Investigators say Caitlin Bunger was a transient who was first reported missing six months ago. Officials say Bunger frequented the Perkins Street Bridge Area in Ukiah. Her body was found by a bodyboarder on March 24th. He was visiting the river in tribute to a relative who was also found dead in the water less than a month earlier.
