Petaluma will swear in its next police chief at Monday’s City Council meeting. Brian Miller, who has been interim chief since December, was selected as the full-time chief last week. He was a Petaluma police officer for 19 years before taking over for the now retired former chief Ken Savano. Miller, a Sonoma County native, will be in charge of a police department with 71 sworn officers, 35 professional staff and an annual budget of 26-million-dollars. His goals include reducing crime, increasing traffic safety and improving quality of life.
