Santa Rosa City Staff Looking at the Budget Over Two-Day Workshop

A two-day workshop for city officials to analyze Santa Rosa’s proposed budget starts this afternoon. The city is proposing a nearly 500-million-dollar budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Finance staff will be reviewing the city’s revenues, expenses and taking a look at the city’s overall financial health. The city is facing a growing budget deficit and potential budget cuts in the coming years. One-time funding that has covered programs like homeless services is expiring, while labor costs and other expenses grow. During the workshop, department heads will also be making presentations detailing their needs and challenges for the next fiscal year.
