Renovations to the Petaluma Public Library will likely begin in July. An update on the renovation was given at this week’s Petaluma City Council meeting where the $3.7 million dollar project is intended to modernize the library branch’s interior with new paint, carpets, shelves and furniture, along with a renovated children’s area. There will also be upgrades to the HVAC, electrical and fire suppression systems. Petaluma will provide $2.9-million towards the work while $750-thousand will come from the Sonoma County Library. Also touched upon at the council meeting was the desire to begin talks on opening a second regional library in Petaluma.
