SSU President Mike Lee Put on Leave After Deal with Pro-Palestine Protesters

Sonoma State University President Mike Lee announced he is stepping aside in the wake of standing with the group Students for Justice in Palestine. He sent a letter out to the campus community Tuesday night regarding the demands of on-campus pro-Palestinian protesters. In that memo, Lee announced an agreement with the students and community members who’d been camped on the school’s Person Lawn since April 26th. He then sent out an email Wednesday announcing his leave and apologizing for the harm he potentially caused, stating that his agreement to the demands did not represent his colleagues, the Chancellor’s Office, or the CSU system. There is no time estimate or end date on his leave.
