Protesters Cleared Out By Police from Sonoma City Council Chambers

Sonoma police cleared protestors out of the City Council Chambers Wednesday night after council members failed to advance a resolution calling for a permanent cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war. Sonoma Police Chief Brandon Cutting said the 100 or so protesters in the audience were peaceful, but officers began asking people to leave after Mayor John Gurney complained about being interrupted. The protesters reassembled outside, where their chants could still be heard. Community members had pushed for several weeks to have the resolution added to the agenda.
