This November, voters in Windsor will get to decide on the future of the town’s garbage contract. A ballot question will ask voters whether to remove a mandatory ten-year limit on the length of the town’s waste-hauling contract. Windsor’s garbage-hauling company, Sonoma County Resource Recovery, collected enough valid petition signatures to get the issue on the ballot. The Windsor Town Council met on Wednesday and officially approved the proposal to go before voters. The change in the solid waste ordinance would also allow Windsor officials to eliminate competitive bidding on the contract, which expires in 2027.
