Santa Rosa Approves Budget for New Fiscal Year… and Hiring Freeze

Santa Rosa will be instituting a city worker hiring freeze next month. It’s part of the city’s new 508-point-eight-million-dollar budget, approved earlier this week. The hiring freeze will kick in when the budget takes effect on July 1st. The spending plan aims to manage Santa Rosa’s projected 13-point-three-million-dollar budget deficit. The deficit is largely connected with seven-percent wage increases coming for city workers, which will cost the city about an extra 12-million-dollars. No cuts are proposed in the budget.
