Point Fire is Fully Contained; Sites Fire in Colusa County 86-Percent Contained

The Point Fire is fully contained. Firefighters reached 100 percent containment at 5:30 Monday afternoon, more than eight days after the fire started on the east shore of Lake Sonoma and northwest of Healdsburg. The one-thousand-207-acre fire destroyed ten structures, including three homes, and damaged two others. It was the biggest wildfire in Sonoma County so far this year. The cause has not been determined.

Meanwhile, containment for the Sites Fire has nearly doubled within 24 hours. The fire in Colusa County was 48-percent contained as of yesterday morning. As of last night, containment has jumped to 86-percent with acreage burned standing at just over 19-thousand acres. Over 1500 firefighting personnel remain on site working to contain and suppress the fire. Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
