Cal Fire Urges Californians to be Careful During Heat Wave

Fire danger remains very high, with high temperatures expected to continue in the Golden State over several days. Firefighters across the state are urging people to be responsible. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jesse Torres says the recent heat wave has worsened dry conditions, so even simple acts like mowing and weed eating could be risky. An East Bay man and a Sonoma County man were arrested over the weekend for accidentally starting a fire with a lawnmower. Torres says people should mow early in the morning and should not park cars in the grass. Be sure that trailer hitches are not dragging on the ground, which can spark, and avoid open flame activities like BBQing and burn days.
