Dozens of colleges are welcoming students back with new protest rules. California State University issued its policy last Thursday, banning tent encampments and overnight demonstrations. UC campuses are doing the same. Michael V. Drake told the administrators of all ten UC campuses that the rules are in place to avoid repeating what happened in recent months. He reaffirmed that UC campuses support the right to protest and express diverse viewpoints but will not tolerate actions that deface property or block access to education and services.
