Albertsons Companies Agrees to Settle Lawsuit Involving Several Counties, Including Sonoma

A major grocery chain has agreed to pay nearly $4-million to settle a lawsuit alleging false advertising and unfair competition in California. Albertsons Companies, which operates Safeway and Vons stores, was accused of overcharging customers for products sold by weight. Sonoma County is one of the seven counties who will split the settlement. It will be used to enforce consumer protection laws and ensure that customers receive accurate information.
