A Chevron executive is responding to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s claims that the oil company has not been engaged in the conversation about protecting against price spikes at the gas pump. Andy Walz is global president of the company’s downstream and midstream business and says after operating in California for over 140 years, Chevron is worried about the state’s priorities. He says Governor Newsom, state regulators, and legislators have created a supply and demand problem with their policies and are now blaming oil companies for it. He says that’s why so many of Chevron’s competitors have stopped doing business in the state, and Chevron might be next.
