Santa Rosa City Council Endorses Series of Budget Cuts

The City of Santa Rosa is taking steps to address a growing budget deficit. On Tuesday, the City Council endorsed a series of budget cuts proposed by city officials.

These initial reductions include eliminating vacant positions, freezing hiring, and reducing spending on contracts and operations. The city aims to save around $6.2 million this fiscal year. While some youth programs and essential maintenance positions were spared from deeper cuts, the city faces a significant long-term deficit.

The city will continue to explore further budget cuts in the coming months, including potential department mergers and staff realignment.
