Rio Nido residents are celebrating a long-awaited victory: the return of their post office!
The post office’s closure in 2017 left residents without a daily gathering spot and forced them to travel to Guerneville for mail, a significant inconvenience, especially during the summer months.
A dedicated group of residents, the Friends of Rio Nido, fought tirelessly to bring back the post office. They faced numerous setbacks, including legal battles, bureaucratic hurdles, and the devastating wildfires that ravaged the region.
Despite these challenges, the community persevered. They successfully negotiated with local authorities and the U.S. Postal Service, ultimately securing an agreement to restore mail delivery to the original location.
