The Sonoma Valley Unified School District is facing a potential teacher strike tomorrow, January 16th.
The Valley of the Moon Teachers Association (VMTA) plans to strike, alleging unfair labor practices by the district. The dispute centers around a tentative agreement reached in October that the district has yet to formally approve.
The VMTA argues that the district’s delay constitutes bad-faith bargaining. The district maintains that it offered a more favorable agreement that the union rejected. A special school board meeting is scheduled for today, where the board is expected to vote on the tentative agreement, potentially averting the strike.
The VMTA is urging community members to join their picket line tomorrow afternoon.
