A former Santa Rosa resident reportedly died just weeks after settling a federal civil rights lawsuit with Sonoma County for $120,000.
La’Marcus McDonald died in Chicago last October at the age of 40. McDonald’s death was not mentioned publicly until a friend mentioned it in a social media post last week. He was in poor health, but the cause of his death is not clear.
McDonald settled with the county on August 21st of last year. He had accused Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies of excessive force during his 2019 arrest.
